A First-Century Letter for the Twenty-First–Century Church
The apostle Peter, inspired by the Spirit, calls Christians “sojourners and exiles” (2:11) in this world. We experience the hardships and sufferings that often accompany living as such in a hostile world. Yet in and through Christ we have a living hope and are called to lives of faithful witness to the grace and goodness of our God as we “follow in his steps” (2:21).
This in-depth study aims to lead believers into a deeper understanding of the letter of First Peter, especially how it leads us as suffering sojourners to be characterized by a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Participants in this Bible study will read through expositions of each text from the companion volume (1 Peter: Living Hope for Suffering Sojourners) or listen to or watch the sermons on each text (available on Spotify and YouTube playlists) before gathering to discuss questions that are designed to foster both a clearer comprehension of the text and faithful application to our daily lives as we anticipate “the revelation of Jesus Christ” (1:7, 13).
