BibleMesh Support

Are you currently using BibleMesh to complete your language studies in preparation for seminary studies? You are not alone - other prospective students are also using BibleMesh to complete the Greek and Hebrew prerequisites.

We would like to invite those currently using BibleMesh to a Zoom video conference on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at 8pm Eastern Time (5pm Pacific, 6pm Mountain, 7pm Central). Greek professor Dr. denHollander and Hebrew professor Dr. Smith will join the call, as well as two current freshmen who used BibleMesh to prepare for CRTS. This will be a time to receive tips on how to properly prepare for language studies at CRTS as well as to connect with other prospective students using BibleMesh. Please contact Leanne for the link.

Latin Requirements Update

Recently the Senate of CRTS updated the admission requirements for the MDiv program with respect to Latin. One year of Latin at university level or a full high school program is strongly recommended. If this is not feasible, a minimum of twelve lessons from Derek Cooper’s Basics of Latin is required (online course; see details on our website here).
For students with a non-western background or those applying under the mature student policy, the minimum of twelve lessons from the Cooper course is strongly recommended rather than required.

For more information about why Latin is important, see our FAQs here

English Grammar Competency

For many years, freshmen students were required to write an English Grammar test within the first month of their studies at CRTS. Recently, the Senate of CRTS implemented a new system to ensure that students come to seminary with a good grasp of English grammar, which is essential not only for preaching and essay writing, but also for learning Hebrew and Greek. Students come to our Seminary from a variety of educational backgrounds. Some have a good grasp of grammatical concepts, but others do not. Our desire with this new system is to increase preparedness and reduce the need for supplemental study at later stages.

All freshmen students must demonstrate their competence in English grammar through the Nature of Writing website (https://new.natureofwriting.com/home). This can be done either by writing diagnostic tests, with a benchmark of 75%, or by completing 4 short courses.

Please note that this is a post-admission requirement — meaning you will receive details about this after you have applied and been admitted to CRTS. It is mentioned now because some students have commented that taking these English grammar courses would have helped them with the pre-seminary language studies and you are certainly welcome to complete these courses while you prepare to apply for CRTS. Please contact Leanne for more details.
